Whens the best time to move my roses?

June 24th, 2010 | by admin |

I have some climbing Roses and i want to move them to my new house. I live in the south-east so they dont really go completely dormant. When is the best time to move them and how should i cut them back?

You can move the roses while they are still dormant and the ground has lost any frost. Cut them back hard and plant right away after digging them up. Don’t let the root s get dry. Keep the plants watered once planted.

We had moved some climbing roses, i cut them back hard, and then put them in a bucket of water until we were ready to pop them in..worked fine. After putting them in we put some good topsoil & mulch.
